Flexible Seating for Engaging STEM Learning!

My students need fun wobble cushions and stools to create a flexible seating environment in our K/1 combo class. The tinkering tools will be used in STEM leaning to help inspire innovation, creativity, and engineering skills.

My Students

It's time to get innovative and creative with flexible seating and STEM! My students come from a diverse community, both economically and demographically. Over 70% of my students are English Learners with limited access to educational enrichment tools in the home. My goal is to provide them with a learning environment that is stimulating, challenging, and meets the individual needs of each of my students. Our classroom is more than a learning zone, it is our home away from home.

My Project

Teaching a combination of kinder and first grade students is exciting and challenging. With the addition of flexible seating options and STEM learning tools, we will be able to have fun while we create, invent, and learn new concepts.

Flexible seating creates an environment of personal choice, allowing students to decide for themselves how and where they will work best.

With the addition of flexible seating option, students may choose to work at standing desks, wobble stool tables, traditional desks (with or without a wobble seat cushion), or utilize the floor with wobble cushions and clipboards. By allowing students to have choice as to where they complete their tasks, they are more likely to stay focused and on-task.

The STEM materials will be used to inspire engineering and problem solving. Students will work to create structures, build 3-dimensional shapes, and create designs using the manipulative materials.
