My students are a unique and diverse group of 3rd graders in a Title I school. Many receive free and reduced lunch. They are energetic and enthusiastic about learning. Every day brings new joy and excitement as we collaborate and grow with each other.
In order to ignite students passions for learning we must cater to their unique learning styles.
Students in my classroom are auditory, visual, and tactile learners. To meet the needs of each of these types of learners, we work in groups and allow for frequent opportunities to move around.
My Project
Flexible seating in my classroom will allow students to choose a comfortable learning space to enhance their learning and collaborate with their peers. Students will be able to make a seating choice based on their different learning styles and their personal comfort preferences.
All students learn differently which is why flexible seating will benefit all students in my classroom.
Research shows that having flexible seating options allows students to choose the best learning space to help them be more engaged.
In addition, students are able to spread out around the room, which will eliminate behavior problems found in the traditional classroom setup.
Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers and work in a comfortable learning environment. If this project is funded, students will be given the opportunity to choose between various types of comfortable seating options, like wobble stools, rockers, and stability balls.
