Help me give my students a cushion that is just right for them. In my classroom we currently share 6 cushions. This would allow all of my students the opportunity to have a comfortable cushion.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
If you were to peek into my room on a given day, you would see students working together and laughing as they learn. Though students come to kindergarten at different learning levels, they are all able to help each other to be their best and have fun doing it. My students love anything hands-on and interactive. My students come to school every day eager to learn and grow.
Our school serves K-8 students in a low-income, high crime area.
These students show hard work and grit coming to school and being ready for new challenges every day in a safe learning environment. There is not always enough to go around to help them on their journey to the next grade and beyond. As their teacher, I hope that I can help them to be their best and reach their goals of college for certain!
My Project
Flexible seating, or the idea that students can learn in a position or spot that is best for their learning has been proven successful across grade levels. It has been linked to higher order thinking, lower stress, collaboration, and is more culturally responsive. In my kindergarten class, we are just starting to learn how to regulate and choose a seat that is best for our own learning. My students currently share 6 cushions and not every student has the opportunity to lay or sit on the floor to best learn.
These new cushions would help equitably give all my students the choice to sit on the floor comfortably during learning time.
2 of the cushions are wobble cushions to help specific students who would benefit from a seat that helps them engage their core muscles while working, sitting, and learning. I want my students to begin to regulate how they best learn and collaborate around my space and it would be much more effective if I could provide all of my students with the materials they need to do that comfortably and equitably.
