it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Welcome! Our classroom is a third, fourth, and fifth grade ACES classroom in the South Bronx. What is a ACES classroom you might ask? ACES is the Academic, Career, and Essential Skills special education program for some students with intellectual disabilities who participate in alternate assessment in New York City public schools. Wow, that is sure a mouthful! ACES Programs provide an opportunity to learn academic, work, and independent living skills in a community school. What makes our class special? We are highly motivated and ready for any challenge that comes our way in order to be ready for independent living.
My Project
Flexible seating would allow for my students to fidget during a lesson to remain at the lesson. My students need a way to expel all their excess energy and being allotted the ability to move around during a lesson will allow for them to stay on task to focus on the task.
A flexible seating option for my students to sit on a high or a short wobble stool is critical for students with special needs who need to expel excess energy.
My students would also benefit from chair bungees which help them move their feet without stomping on the floor during a lesson.
