This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a low income school where most of the students receive free/reduce lunch. My 13, 5th grade students, are eager to learn, but are limited to their resources. If I am provided with appropriate tools, my students will benefit from using more technology in the class and collaborating with their peers.
My students come to school every single day ready to give their all and embrace any obstacle thrown their in their direction.
My students are hungry for knowledge.
My Project
Universal design for learning is composed of strategies and practices that will help all students learn. Students do not always need to been a sitting down in a desk to learn. Research shows flexible seating inspired through universal design for learning is beneficial for all students. The use of flexible seating such as wobble cushions, Stability Yoga Ball chair and stools, will help the students release energy in a way that will not disturb the whole learning environment. The clip boards and dry erase boards can be used during differential instruction to give students options of where to write down information. Using flexible seating and different writing accommodations, will encourage students to be more engage! These tools will provide accommodations and strategies to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
