My first grade class is full of personality. I have a very diverse classroom. There are 25 kids in my class from all different backgrounds, and from all over the world. I have students from Mexico, Somalia, Nigeria, Vietnam. My kids come to me at all different levels. It is my job to work with them where they are and make sure we see progress throughout the year.
In this day and age, most classrooms are full of kids that have too much energy to be sitting inside a classroom all day.
I have an especially energetic group of kiddos this year. They need to be able to move. They have a hard time just sitting in a chair all day. Their energy and their spunky personalities make this group special, even though they are giving me a run for my money!
My Project
I have so many kiddos that constantly need to be moving. They can't sit in a seat for even 15-30 minutes some times. I would like for my classroom to fit the needs of my students. I want my kids to be able to choose a seating option that will encourage them to be successful learners in my classroom. Having the option of flexible seating will decrease unwanted behavior in the room which will help all of my students reach their full potential in first grade. There are so many options out there and I'm excited to try some in my room.
