Flexible Seating for a First Year Special Education Teacher
My students need flexible seating. I believe having multiple choices for my students to make will help them better focus on learning. The more comfortable they are the more they feel at home!
MY STUDENTS ARE AMAZING!!! I am a first year special education teacher but was fortunate enough to meet my students last school year. They are so full of life and their joy spreads to everyone around them. With having multiple grades in my room I am amazed at how much my older students (3-5 graders) look after and help the younger students (K-2). The interaction between them is a wonderful sight. Walk into the room and my students will make your day.
My Project
I will be a first year Special Education teacher at a Title 1 school in Norman, Oklahoma. I will have students in grades Kindergarten thru fifth grade. I have seen the benefits flexible seating has with students and their education. I am wanting to implement flexible seating for my AMAZING students this upcoming school year. Admit it - we all hate being stuck sitting somewhere all day so if you had the choice to sit on something fun and wiggle a little we would all be super productive!
I believe giving the student the option of where to sit and what to sit on gives them a chance to make a decision when it comes to their education, and of course makes learning FUN!!!
It is my hope that with the wobble stools, balance balls, and other amazing flexible seating options by students will be better able to focus on work and by allowing them to move around they can express themselves better through their work and personalities!
