I teach 24 Kindergarten students at a Title I school in Greenville, South Carolina. My students are beginning to learn to read and write, as well as, identify numbers, count, add, and subtract. Each of my students has a lively and spunky personality. They come to school eager to learn and interact with their classmates.
My students love coming to school and I look forward to seeing them every day.
My class loves to play outside, read, play games, and give me lots of hugs. They are a dedicated bunch that works hard every day.
My Project
When my students enter the classroom next year, they are going to have spent an entire year at home learning in the comfortability of their own home. This year, as the virtual teacher, I have seen students laying on their tummy during class, sitting in bean bag chairs, and working in desks that are low to the ground. To help meet the needs of my students, I am asking for donations to create flexible seating in my classroom.
By donating to my project, you will help improve and increase student attention and help increase student academic achievement.
Flexible seating in the classroom will allow my students to have a choice in where and how they would like to sit. The tables are adjustable and will allow my students to sit closer to the ground. The wobble stools are also adjustable and will allow my students movement at their desks. All of the materials that will be donated will be extremely beneficial for students who need to get their wiggles out. The floor cushions will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
I know that by giving my students a choice in seating, their ability to learn and grow will increase tremendously.
