Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In 2nd grade, students are growing in independence, curiosity, and energy. Traditional desks and chairs can limit their ability to move, focus, and engage fully with learning. That's why flexible seating is more than just a classroom trend, it's a tool that supports different learning styles and helps students feel comfortable and confident. By offering a variety of seating options like the wobble stools, floor cushions, lap desks and dry erase clipboards, students can choose what works best for them.

Whether they need to wiggle, stretch out or sit upright, flexible seating helps meet those physical needs so they can stay focused and ready to learn.

Adding flexible seating to our classroom will transform the way students interact with their learning environment. It encourages collaboration, supports self-regulation, and builds a sense of ownership in their education. When students feel like they have a say in how they learn best, their motivation and engagement increase. These new seating choices will be used during independent reading, small group, and writing time. Students will have more opportunities to move with purpose, which helps them stay on task longer and retain information better.

These students are full of life, potential, and personality. They are excited about starting at a new construction school this upcoming fall. Many of these students attended the school that a previously taught at so we are walking into a new environment together, with excitement, joy, and aspirations to do great things! This project is about creating a space that reflects their needs and supports their growth, academically, socially, and emotionally. With your support, we can build a classroom that feels more like a home for learning, where every child has the tools they need to shine.
