This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Classrooms should accommodate each learner so that they may feel comfortable and motivated to learn.
Flexible seating empowers students to make decisions about their learning.
I believe that when students are given multiple options regarding their working environment, they will choose seating and groups that help them meet their learning goal.
I encourage my students to find partners and seats that will keep them focused and on-task.
As of now, my students have the option of working on cushions in the classroom library, at their desks, or at the kidney table. I would like to offer them more options as well as options that support their energy levels and constant movement. I believe wobble chairs and chair bands would best accommodate my students. They often have so much energy that gets funneled into tapping their feet, knocking on the desk, or shouting out answers.
In the future, I would also like to incorporate a few standing desks and student organizers so that they may have full free choice of seating as a reward.
