My students need seating that meets their individual needs such as Wobble stools, moveable seating, and adjustable tables so that each student can be comfortable, successful learners.
Yung Wing was a scholar who came to America when he was 18 years old to attend high school. He was the first Chinese person to attend Yale University and graduated in 1853. Yung Wing went back to China and with the permission of the Chinese government, brought more students back to America to study. Our school is named to honor the first Chinese student in America.
The mission of the YW School is to enable students to achieve their full potential as productive, caring, informed human beings by providing them with a rigorous, comprehensive education suited to their unique needs and abilities.
To achieve this, we provide programs that address not only the intellectual, but also the physical, emotional, and social needs of all our students. Decisions affecting our students and our school are arrived at with the fullest participation of administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
My Project
We teach in an urban school where we focus on enabling students to achieve their full potential as productive, caring, informed human beings by providing them with a rigorous, comprehensive education suited to their unique needs and abilities. We have decided to offer flexible seating in our classrooms, because who wants to sit at a desk ALL day?
When our Fifth graders walk into our classroom, they know that they will be challenged and may make mistakes.
They also know that our classroom is the safest place to make mistakes and to grow from them. Our students reflect on their progress, not on their grades. I believe that our job goes beyond our students' achievement.
We would like to be able to offer a variety of seating options such as flexible seating arrangements, a stand-up desk, and wobble stools to help meet the needs of all of our students!
