Help me give my students flexible seating choices! Comfy floor seats, wiggle stools, and wobble cushions that can be easily added to any chair, so my students can self-stimulate to help work out the wiggles.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first-year, first-grade teacher in Mesa, Arizona at a Title I school.
There are currently 16 learners, all with different abilities and talents, in my room.
These students have not been inside a brick and mortar classroom since March 2020 and I strive to provide an engaging, hands-on, and meaningful learning experience while they are here in-person. It is my personal goal to instill a sense of excitement, safety and belonging to my students upon their return to my classroom.
My Project
My first-grade students have been at-home remote-learning for the past 10 months!
These alternative desks, wiggle seats, stools, and bands are easy to sanitize, and will be available for students who need something different than a standard desk and chair to help with their focus and learning as they get back into the swing of regular classroom instruction, rules, and procedures.
I would love to give my students multiple flexible-seating options to help them feel more comfortable as well as give them a unique experience in this new classroom environment after so long apart from the classroom.
