This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a 5th grade ICT class with ENL students and they are eager learners that try their best at everything that they do! They want and enjoy learning!! They love to engage in collaborative discussions and working with their peers to learn even more!
Given the right resources and tools, nothing can stop them on their educational journey to success!
My Project
Flexible seating in our ICT class allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Students will be able to choose a place in our classroom that they feel comfortable in and with little to no distractions. We have a lot of students in our class and some prefer to work in a corner of our room away from distractions. For example, sitting or laying on the floor to do their work is very popular for my students to move away from their peers to concentrate and have discussions. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
The product that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The comfy floor seats and table will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options that are best for my students. They are light and mobile, so it can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
I have seen how location and choice can positively affect my students work and motivation. I am looking forward to this new addition to create an even better educational experience for them!!!!
