This is my third year teaching 4th-grade science! My students love engaging, hands-on STEM activities, and moving about in the classroom. My goal is to provide them with enough materials to be able to do these activities, such as making and erupting volcanos and experimenting with magnets, etc. along with comfortable seating that allows them to "fidget" when we are sitting and learning. The bouncy bands will be used for my students that need to move while learning. Every year I have my students make their own volcano out of paper mache, so the brushes and paint will be used for that. The headphones will allow all of my students the opportunity to listen to videos that we use on Discovery Education and Generation Genius to enhance their learning during science class. The magnets will be used at the beginning of the year when we talk about force. The science comic books will be an engaging activity for my student to use during our WIN (what I need) reading hour each day. During this hour we focus on skills that each student can improve on, such as comprehension, spelling, or vocabulary. I add a lot of art to my science projects, where students have to draw and color things like landscapes, optical illusions, etc. so this is what the colored pencils, sharpener, and card stock in for. Lastly, the printer will be used for printing out activities for my students. My goals for this project are to create a fun engaging learning environment by providing my students with the necessary materials to do so, and to create a love for science!
