Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year, I am teaching a fourth grade ESL and special education class. The group will consist of about 22 English Language Learners, ages 9-10 years old, with diverse backgrounds, and each of them bringing their own diverse needs. Most students come from Spanish speaking homes and are emergent bilinguals. I am grateful to be teaching students in person 5 days a week!

My Project

My fourth graders will use academic planners to stay organized and keep track of their assignments. Thanks to DonorsChoose, I have provided my students’ planners every year. Planners have been helpful in connecting families to the classroom routines and homework procedures. They also help students develop lifelong organizational skills!

Flexible seating in the classroom will help students learn and work in a more comfortable and welcoming environment.

We all know how awful it feels to sit at a desk all day. I want my students to be able to move around and find comfortable alternatives to traditional desks!
