Help me give my students comfy floor seats, a mail center, and book bins for a place to store their paperwork!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. H's classroom raised $814

My Students
I work in a high poverty school and my students come from various backgrounds. School is the one place where these kids love to come because they will get two warm meals a day, they will be told how special they are, they will be loved by adults and most importantly, they will be held accountable.
School is the one place that is safe.
My students yearn to be in a place where their voice is heard, their stomachs are filled and where they feel valued and appreciated. It is my job to ensure that I fulfill all those needs while they are in my care. They are "my children" when they are in my classroom and I will do anything to ensure that they get the best experience possible. They are only "my children" for a year, but they stay in my heart forever.
My Project
As a 3rd year teacher, I am still struggling to get my room fully functional. I am reaching out for help to ensure my students are receiving the absolute best second-grade experience ever! Book boxes are used by students daily. With an individualized box, students are able to keep track of their independent reading books along with their assigned small group reading books. These book boxes are kept at their tables where students can quickly and easily access their reading books throughout the day.
Flexible seating is offered to students during independent reading time and rotations.
I love being able to offer my students an alternative to just sitting at their table all day.
Lastly, the classroom mailboxes will be used to ensure all papers and important articles stay organized and get sent home daily. This is a huge step in 2nd grade as I try to foster more independence and responsibility. Being able to keep things organized is a huge help! This mailbox will help with this!
In an article on Parent Today, written on August 10, 2017, it included the following quote, “Being organized crosses all studies for education and then into all life situations. Directly teaching organizational skills [at home and in-school] aids students for their current task [school] while preparing them for their latter tasks [the workforce]". Not only does organization help students in their current learning situation, but it also teaches and gives them a lifelong skill that will benefit them not only today but in their future.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my project! I appreciate any and all help!
