Help me give my students balance ball chairs as flexible seating to fit their movement needs! The Math manipulatives and laminating pouches will help my students learn in a way that is meaningful to them!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my classroom are working on math, science, social pragmatic, and functional living skills. Most have cognitive impairments or multiple disabilities which prevent them from learning successfully in typical classroom settings. These children come from low income backgrounds where meeting daily needs is a challenge and, from their family's perspective, education is sometimes an afterthought.
Even still, my students love to learn; especially through hands on activities.
They require additional supports to help them stay focused and regulated throughout the school day.
My Project
In my first DonorsChoose.org project I was able to get 2 flexible ball chairs for my students and other manipulatives in order to help them focus while at school. These Gaiam Classic Balance Ball Chairs have proven to be such an amazing tool within the classroom! They have helped the students focus while learning their math, science, life and social skills that they need to succeed in class.
My class has grown, and we are in desperate need for more types of seating within the classroom to help address all the needs the students have.
The Gaiam Ball chairs, WALIKI TOYS chair ball with feet, The Flex-space wobble cushion, and ForHealth Resistance Loop Bands Exercise Bands will provide the needed seating, and movement my students need!
I have a wide range of amazing students within the classroom. They need more math manipulatives in order to help them learn skills such as counting, balancing a bank account, and other daily living skills. These manipulatives, such as the Self-Checking Magnetic Board, self checking cards and the Count and Link activities will help provide my students with the sensory, and tactile learning they need to succeed.
The laminating sheets and Velcro dots will allow me to make more materials for my students to address their needs.
