This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students need choice and freedom in their school day. Something as simple as allowing them choice over where they sit and what they sit in or on is huge. Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. To help my students become 21st-century learners and ready for college and careers, I need to help them learn to collaborate with others, think creatively and problem solve. The furniture Nugget supports all of these goals.

Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused, and productive.

Traditional desks can make students territorial or possessive over their space and supplies. Flexible seating encourages students to share both. And, it encourages them to take turns in different locations and with different seating options. Flexible seating allows students to quickly and easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class without moving mountains of heavy desks. The furniture from Nugget is made of foam and fabric and comes in 4 pieces. This allows for easy movement and endless arrangement options.

Comfortable students are happy students. Happy students are engaged and motivated students. A Nugget couch would give my students a space to feel comfortable in, provide creative options for use, and offer a unique place to sit and learn.
