My Students
My students are brilliant, engaging, and hardworking 4th and 5th graders who are part of our school's dual language program. These incredible students learn in Vietnamese half of their day and in English the other half. I have the privilege of teaching these bright and interesting young people each day.
The goal in our classroom is for all students to learn while also seeing themselves as learners who are ready to take on new challenges.
Our classroom community is filled with students who are excited about learning. My school is located in a low-income area; 75% of my students qualify for free/reduced lunch. The neighborhood is a mixture of cultures, first and second generation immigrants as well as students and families who have called it home for generations. It is an incredible group of families, students, teachers, and community partners.
My Project
I teach 50 fantastic students who are eager to learn. We are a diverse classroom community; each with unique needs. When we're learning, some of us love to sit at our desks, others on the floor, and still others on stools, beanbag chairs, or cushions. We benefit from choices and the opportunity to move and gather in small groups, with a partner, or work individually in a quiet space during reading, writing, and math workshop times.
In order to help support the needs of my students, our classroom needs some additional seating options to promote engagement and games to build our social emotional skills.
My students enjoy connecting and learning with one another so games and other social skill building opportunities are needed in our classroom. We would be so grateful for your generous gift to acquire additional flexible seating options to increase our engagement and for games to help us spend time together in meaningful ways.
