it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are some of the most hardworking, inquisitive, delightful people who genuinely want to learn and succeed. My students come from predominantly low-income, Spanish-speaking homes. Many live in a single-parent or guardian household or have parents that are unable to extend learning after school due to working multiple jobs.
Teachers at our school are working hard to redefine what urban education looks like for our scholars by combating the high cost of disengagement and providing them with high-quality, competitive, engaging, and relevant instruction and learning opportunities that will teach them to be inquisitive, lifelong learners, not merely students able to regurgitate facts or pass an examination.
My Project
Help me give my students flexible seating, individual whiteboards, and classroom storage bins!
When students have their sensory needs met, they can better engage and focus.
Children need to move around, and flexible seating will allow them to do so. My students must sit for the majority of the day, so flexible seating will give them a bit more flexibility in doing so.
Individual whiteboards will increase engagement simply by being whiteboards and markers over index cards or loose-leaf paper and pencil! Moreover, whiteboards are less wasteful and perfect to use to create engagement during whole group lessons on the carpet.
Storage bins will help beautify the classroom library. Right now, we've got a lot of makeshift bins for novels going on. Having 24 uniform bins will look much nicer and more uniform, and they are all the correct size to fit on the classroom shelves.
