This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The majority of my students come from low-income families and do not have a lot at home. Most of their parents work and they do not have a lot of support. I make it a priority to show my kids I really care about them and that I am there for them through any issue. When they walk in the door they know they can come to me right away with any problem. Students also care for each other.
When my students come into my classroom they are excited to learn because they feel safe and have a sense of belonging.
My students love learning new things and are always amazed when they learn new concepts and see how it connects. An example of this was when we were learning about equivalent fractions they kept saying, "mind blown" because you can multiply the numerator and the denominator by any number and the new fraction is equivalent to the original fraction. They then had to draw a picture to prove it and see how the picture really proves it, they kept saying "amazing". Moments like these melt my heart because it shows my students are engaged and motivated to learn.
My Project
Yoga ball chairs help students who need movement while they are learning. I want to give seating options that allow for movement. While seating options are so important so is the classroom environment. I want to add fabric to the bulletin boards to brighten up the room and give students a safe and warm place to come every day. I also want to be able to give the best resources to my students and a Teacher Pay Teachers gift card allows me to access so many resources. A portable monitor allows me to transition from teaching at home to teaching in the classroom smoothly. It will allow me to see my students as I am teaching on Google Meet.
