My Project
Fourth graders are curious, energetic, and eager to learn, but they don’t all learn best from sitting in a traditional desk and chair all day. Flexible seating options will give them the opportunity to take ownership of their learning, collaborate more easily with peers, and choose a space that helps them stay focused.
Research shows that giving students seating choices improves behavior, increases engagement, and promotes collaboration.
More importantly, it shows students we trust them to make choices about their learning—and that their comfort matters.
My students typically thrive during center time in the classroom and I partly contribute that to being able to learn in a comfortable setting while collaborating with peers!
I would be more appreciative to add some seating options to my carpet area.
