This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is filled with amazing, diverse second graders. I teach students from all over the world, many learning English as a second language. I teach at a neighborhood school in a high-poverty area and many families are unable to provide their children with the supplies they need to succeed. My students are energetic and ready to learn and many have diverse needs. I use a variety of teaching strategies to ensure I meet the needs of each of my students. I believe that when students have the tools they need for success they are motivated to learn!

My Project

The materials I have chosen will help give my students a variety in their seating arrangements and make group learning more comfortable and accessible. The comfy floor seats will give my students more comfortable spaces to read independently or with a partner. The seats are easy to store and move around the room as needed. These seating options will also provide the flexibility to make group work in all subjects easier. The caddies I have chosen will be used for students using flexible seating options. The caddies will help them have the materials they need handy without need of returning back and forth to their desks or other work stations.

Comfort and accessibility will help keep my students engaged and focused.

This project will help my group rotations work more successfully, which will hopefully lead to growth in skills for all subjects.
