Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to school eager to learn! My school is a Title I school. We are in a very low income neighborhood, with 98% of the students coming from low-income families. A total of 78.2% students who attend this school are Latino, with a total of 39.4% of student population being English Language Learners.

I'm a Special Education teacher in Chicago Public Schools.

This is my 11th year teaching. The students that I work with have been diagnosed with Learning Disabilities, Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Emotional Disturbance, Juvenile Dermatomyositis, and ADHD. I also have experience working with dual language programs and experience working with students learning English. The students that I service are very hard working and kind.

My Project

Please help my students learn. They are over their typical learning classroom environment. Hard desks and chairs? Blah... Please help create an environment where they are able to learn comfortably! Looking forward to setting up a space where their differences will be celebrated and their hard work will be noticed. By providing flexible seating opportunities, students will have choice as to where they feel they will be able to focus best. It will help students stay on task and stay engaged with their learning.

They have been remote learning for over a school year. Please help me welcome them back to their own learning paradise!
