Help me give my students the ability to wobble while they work. My kids are constantly in motion due to their individual needs, so the use of bouncy bands and wobble chairs will help them remain focused.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I service students with all different developmental levels that come from all different cultural backgrounds and income levels. No matter what their story is, they are welcomed with open arms into my office to work towards their individual goals in order to progress in their educational career.
In my room, we target expressive and receptive language, articulation, phonemic awareness, daily living skills and pragmatic skills.
I strive, as their SLP, to make them feel proud for showing even the smallest improvement, and if no improvement is being seen, I still like to positively acknowledge their willingness and drive to try.
My Project
The population that I service has a wide variety of needs.
A good portion of my scholars need to 'wiggle while they work'.
They are constantly in motion, whether pushing back in their chairs or shaking their legs, so the opportunity to provide them with other avenues of mobility would be amazing! A simple wobble chair or bouncy band will help make all of the difference in the world for my speech students!
My students also have the opportunity to earn SPEECH BUCKS in my room, for working hard work and showing respect. 5 speech bucks earns them a snack. Let me tell you, they earn A LOT of snacks and our snack bin is almost empty! The Goldfish and Cheez-It Crackers will really help replenish our snack bin.
Overall, I am hoping for a few 'small' items that can help make my speech room run in a more fluid manner. Thank you for the opportunity to propose my project!
