This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher who services children 4th and 5th grade students in the Bronx, NY. Besides their own individual needs, my students face challenges in and out of school. These challenges can sometimes hinder there learning and it is my job as their classroom teacher to ease their frustrations and obstacles.

My students are the smartest, most creative, passionate, funny and motivated kids in the Bronx.

Asking any child to sit still for an extended period of time is tall order, when you mix that request with a child who struggles with a learning disability it is nearly impossible.

My goal is to build a flexible and engaging classroom for my students. I envision them having choices for learning, being engaged and on task.

My Project

With your help, my students will be able to learn the best way they know how, while moving! Bouncy bands will allow them to keep their feet busy while they are at their desks working. Wobble seats will allow them to move their bodies while working in groups. Wobble cushions will allow them to gain the sensory input needed to work at their seats. Allowing my students different options, gives them ownership of their learning. Since each of my students have their own individual needs, these options will give them the choice needed for them to be successful in their learning every day.
