Flexible Learning for Room 208!

Help me give my students the materials they need to stay engaged no matter what school looks like next year! Room 208 needs interactive read alouds and laminating supplies in order to create individual learning bins!

My Students

I am so fortunate to work with a group of students who are unique and special in many different ways. I work with special needs students in kindergarten through second grade. All of my students require full-time special education support in order to help increase their skills in each area of development. Most of my students are nonverbal and have behavior challenges. We have been physically out of school since March 12, 2020. We left our building on that Thursday not realizing that we would not be returning for the rest of the year. My students have worked so hard to adjust to distance learning. We are located in a public, inner-city school, in a high-poverty neighborhood, where students receive free breakfast and lunch every day. My goal is to create engaging activities that meet the unique needs of all of my students while allowing flexibility to accommodate for the uncertainties of the upcoming school year. My Project

My students require engaging activities to help keep them interested and motivated to learn. All of my students are still developing their fine motor skills and are not yet able to demonstrate their learning using pencil and paper. My students learn best through hands-on activities. Due to COVID-19 related restrictions, my students will need individual activities to engage with each day. I would like to create learning bins for each of my students with laminated math and literacy activities that align with our monthly themes. These activities will easily be able to be sent home for the distance learning portion of our district's "hybrid model" for the fall.

In order to make these learning bins a reality, I am asking for laminating pouches and Velcro.

I am also asking for engaging read aloud books that align with our monthly themes. No matter how school is held in the fall, I would like to be able to use books to help my students make connections and generalize new content.
