This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a predominantly low income school located in Santa Ana, California. A large population of our school consists of ELL students who come from immigrant families. These students do not speak English at home and often times their parents speak very limited English.

The early years are some of the most crucial years in a child's education.

As a TK/Kindergarten student, it is especially important to begin building a strong foundation for school. Our focus is on creating a comfortable and safe environment for students to thrive.

My Project

Movement and freedom are important in TK and Kindergarten. In my classroom, I try to provide students with different seating options. My students will be able to use the floor seats and balance discs at our low table and the stability ball can be used at our normal height tables.

Traditional chairs are not always the most comfortable seating option when you're trying to get your work done.

Allowing my students to choose where they sit to complete their work will help them remain focused. At such a young age, movement is important and finding a spot that is comfortable for them will help them take ownership of their learning.
