My Students
I teach in a 5th-grade classroom in Staten Island, NYC. They are curious, book-loving children. They amaze me every day with their creativity and excitement for learning! I have a diverse group of learners, which means there are diverse needs in my classroom. My students all love to learn, but need to be given a variety of access points that support their specific academic and social-emotional needs. They love to do projects that incorporate their academic learning with their community.
With such a diverse group of learners, and the task of meeting the needs of each, flexible seating has been become a crucial part of my classroom environment.
Flexible seating has been a game-changer in my room. Accommodations can be made for whole-group, small group, partnerships, and individual conferencing. The learning climate has changed dramatically, engagement significantly improved, and, as a result, the children have blossomed into inquisitive little people!
My Project
My classroom is in need of a tall table that will literally support their learning! In our flexible seating environment, students are able to identify a learning spot that will support their needs the most. The tall table accommodates those who need to have standing space and seating space.
Flexible seating needs change with the activity they are working on, who they are working with and their personal learning needs that day.
This table would be the perfect addition to our classroom! It has the ability to roll around and move easily so that it can be used in a variety of ways and learning activities. Please support my students and Lakeshore will match! Thank you so much for your consideration and support!
