it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love flexible seating! It’s so intriguing to watch them find what seat works best for them. I teach 18 smart, funny, and lively kindergartners.
Many of my students have never stepped foot in a school before they come to my class in August.
Close to 85% of our students also come from a low socioeconomic background. However, these "obstacles" do not stop me from challenging my students in the classroom or keep them from rising to the challenge while also being excited about learning.
My Project
When given choices of where to sit, my students are much more engaged in their learning. It’s wonderful to be able to give them options. Some students like standing; others need to bounce a little; many like to lay down. Since I’ve implemented flexible seating in my classroom, I have seen a tremendous improvement in independent work as well as behavior.
I would love to give my students a few new comfortable spaces to sit, learn, and work.
We do independent, differentiated centers. These new seating options would give my students more spaces to spread out and work. They would also give us a new space to gather as a class.
