This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a fabulous elementary school. Recently, we have been designated as a Gold STEAM school. I would like to continue our STEAM adventure for this new school year with my fourth graders. Math and science will be infused to show they go hand-in-hand with reading and writing. I want to introduce them to programs like Discovery Learning to supplement their science text. We have an incredible robotics program in the school and enrichment programs that encourage students in these subject areas. I'm excited to show students how these subjects are interdisciplinary.
My Project
My students are wonderful fourth graders who never give up! They have various learning disabilities that just cause them to learn a little differently from other students. Many cannot handle sitting at their desk without several breaks to help accommodate their impulsiveness. Having a table lower to the ground will give them the opportunity to sit on their cushion chairs and rock if they need to as they finish their work.
Comfort contributes to learning.
Students feeling comfortable are able to learn freely. This new way of learning helps create a positive classroom environment. Students will be motivated to learn in a flexible setting, reducing behavior problems.
