Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Chicago Public School, our population is primarily Hispanic and low-income. We have approximately 900 students. Our students love technology and are open to trying and learning new things. Our students are currently learning to code, creating websites, and engineering.

My students are always eager to learn and love working together to conquer new technology challenges.

The hands on activities level the playing field for my diverse learners and as well as my English language learners. They love showing off the things they build.

My Project

We would love to have movable seating in the computer lab. By having tables with wheels it will create flexible seating options to suite each lesson objectives. The movable seating arrangements will give our students more space to work in larger or small groups. Our classrooms have limited space, sometimes accommodating up to 37 students in our computer lab.

Our students love conquering challenges.

In our Computer Science class students work on the computers to learn about programming, design web-pages, or design 3D printing objects. In addition, our students build and programming robots often needing lots of floor space. Students control these robots with their electronic devices. Often our student desks prevent the robots from moving freely through the room. By having these tables with wheels it gives the students the option to wheel the tables out the way to freely program their robots to move through room.
