This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Project Summary
In my Spanish classroom, I aim to foster an engaging, flexible, and student-centered learning environment where students feel at ease exploring the Spanish language through reading, movement, and collaboration.
To support this vision, I am seeking funding for a foldable table to complete a set of 4 foldable table, a saucer chair, and a set of comprehensible Spanish books to enhance our reading culture and hands-on learning experiences.
How this will benefit my students?
My classroom is deskless, allowing students to move freely, engage in collaborative activities, and work on projects without the restrictions of traditional seating. However, to optimize this learning environment, we need:
• A foldable table for hands-on projects, group work, and structured activities that require a workspace. Since the table is foldable, it will provide flexibility in arranging the classroom as needed I have 3 tables for need one more to complete the classroom needs.
• A saucer chair to create a cozy and inviting reading space where students can comfortably engage in independent reading and novel studies.
• 2 sets of comprehensible Spanish books to expand our classroom library, offering students engaging texts at different proficiency levels. We do sustained silent reading (SSR) and read novels together as a class, which are essential components of language acquisition. The more exposure students have to the language in context, the better their comprehension and fluency.
Creating a flexible classroom that fosters independent learning, collaboration, and reading in the target language will significantly enhance my students’ learning experience. With your support, I can continue to cultivate a space where students thrive in their Spanish learning journey.
Thank you for helping me make my classroom a place where students grow, explore, and develop a lifelong love for language learning.
