Help me give my students the flex seating items so they can have additional seating in the classroom to make our centers relaxing and enjoyable. The lights and doorbell will help control the noise level during center time.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from the very Tip of Texas, near Mexico. Many of my students use both English and Spanish languages but lack vocabulary and background knowledge because their parents' first language is Spanish . However, they manage to overcome all those obstacles with their determination with extra tutorials and their family's support. I am very fortunate to be their teacher, to be part of their academic growth.
As my students achieve in my classroom, they amaze me because they do not quit or give up, and want to please you to reach their expectations.
My classroom is about building skills, relationships, following directions, and accessing content in different ways. All children can learn, so if one way doesn't work, then different strategies are incorporated. We celebrate little wins together each day and I love seeing smiles on their faces when they get that "Aha" moment. My students are grateful kids; eager to learn no matter the challenges they face! This will be my 22nd year teaching and kindergarten is my favorite grade level.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, or sitting or laying on the floor with a clip board. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their table.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools will allow students to sit at their tables or carpet but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The bouncing balls will allow for additional movements when needed. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. The doorbell and lights help control the noise levels during center time.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
