My Students
I love the way my first graders arrive everyday eager to learn. I especially love it when a student comes in the room and before we even get to greet each I hear, " What are we going to do today?". I know that student has been looking forward to the day. That makes me so proud to be doing what I'm doing and to have something exciting planned for the day.
My students are sweet eager beavers when it comes to learning.
They love structure and fun learning activities. They will give their all when they understand the directions and expectations. Some of these precious souls can overcome so much to come to school with a smile every day. Children are truly amazing in their resiliency and courage. I'll tell them all the time that they are my superheroes.
My students truly do teach me something every day. I am always dreaming of ways to make their the day in my classroom the best it can possibly be.
My Project
My students would be excited to have more flexible seating choices. Children love to move around. That is who they are in the journey of childhood.
During our reading block of time, we have learning stations through which students rotate.
My students can choose to sit on the rug or a pillow while they practice reading for fluency and stamina, to explore a new book of their choosing from my classroom library, or complete an assignment from one of the word work or writing stations. These floor chairs and desks would provide a comfortable and fun place for students to do station work or independent reading.
Let's face it students need fun in their day. Colorful alternative seating spaces add that fun for them while giving comfortable back support as well. I know that my students would look forward to their turn to use these new floor chairs and desks. Thank you!
