My Students
Situated in a small town, our school is a Title-1 school with a high percentage of students who receive free or reduced lunch. Our classroom is full of students who have multiple abilities and are working to overcome many roadblocks.
Each day when my students walk into my classroom, my goal is to immerse them in meaningful experiences that will motivate and inspire them.
My team and I work hard to provide experiences that will create opportunities for growth and learning.
My Project
When learning is hard, sitting is even harder! Wiggly bodies and plastic chairs don't mix. My students need sit balls and other flexible seating options to outfit our classroom for twenty-first century learning at it's best!
I imagine a classroom full of seating choices that are flexible, fun and accessible to all students.
By providing students with these options (cushions, balance balls, an InStride Cycle pedals, bouncy bands and Fidget Toys) I will be able to differentiate, not just learning opportunities, but also the environment they are in. There are many options available today to offer flexible options for students, that provide both movement and sensory input. For this project, I have chosen items that do both of these things-bands to place on chairs so that students can kick and bounce their feet; sit balls so that children can bounce while they work; peanut balls for children who have a harder time with balance; and cycle pedals for students who need increased movement in a seated position.
By providing my students with a flexible seating environment, they will be able to focus better, complete work more easily and be more comfortable.
