Flexible and Adaptive Seating for Students and Staff
Help me give my students in wheelchairs adaptive seating to allow comfort. My paraprofessionals also need comfortable and flexible seating when working with students at different heights and with various needs. Trays will be helpful during work time.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work in an Intense Classroom for students with severe needs. Most of my students are in wheelchairs and have seizure disorders. My goal for this project is to ensure they are comfortable and to provide opportunities for them to sit in various positions with the use of adaptive chairs.
It is important for them to be in different positions throughout the day to ensure they are comfortable and to meet their individual needs throughout their school day.
Providing them with different positions allow them to be more successful during work time. Some are able to sit in adaptive chairs, but require various seating options when sitting in the adaptive chairs. The discs will provide this opportunity for them. Bean bag chairs will allow my students in wheelchairs to sit in different positions throughout the day. Many of my students in wheelchairs do not have proper head control or have difficulty moving their arms and legs. They also have seizure disorders and may need to lay down after they have a seizure. The special seating on my list will give them the opportunity to be comfortable throughout their school day. I also have students with Autism and the rocking chair will provide them with movement and provide a sense of calming for some of them.
The seating for my staff will be helpful to allow them to position themselves better in order to assist students. The chairs have the ability to be adjusted in height, arm rests that can be lifted, and they have the ability to roll. This will allow my staff to accommodate each students' needs when they are working with them. The carts will also be helpful to store teaching tools and materials when they are working with students to help maximize student learning.
