My Students
I teach at a one of the largest fine arts and technology magnet schools in Chicago's north side. Our diverse students come from all over Chicago and nearly ninety percent of our students are low income.
My thirty two fifth graders are full of energy and love to learn!
They amaze me every day with their dedication to school and our classroom community. I strive everyday to make our classroom a welcoming and safe environment that encourages my students to take risks and become better learners and global citizens!
My Project
Not every student learns the same way. This includes where they learn. I have students who are most comfortable completing their classwork standing at their desks, laying or sitting on the floor, working at a side table, or sitting at their desks. Additionally, as fifth graders, they have an abundance of energy that makes sitting in a traditional chair difficult.
The Flex Seating Floor Table and Comfy Floor Seats complete my project that will include a floor table, comfy floor seat, and wobble stools that will allow my students the flexibility to learn where and how is best for them.
Currently, we have a classroom rugs, throw pillows, and "Wobble Stools" but that doesn't satisfy the needs of all my kiddos.
Furthermore, with thirty two kids in our class it gets quite crowded switching the Table and floor seating not only allow my students to get their energy out while learning, but also provide more space for that learning.
