My Students

My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, needs and abilities. I know that incorporating a variety of seating options into my slightly crowded classroom will give the feel of more space and facilitate more movement throughout the classroom.

Our school is unique in that it is an arts school and the students are used to lots of movement.

Also, the school has received an ArtsNow grant which is educating the teachers on how to incorporate a variety of arts into the academic classroom. This will be achieved at a successful rate if there is more space in the room allowing for movement while the students are engaged in their academic classes. By changing up the traditional style of tables and chairs in my classroom, it will give the students more options for learning.

The students at our school are so excited to learn and grow in their academic and arts and I know that allowing them the freedom to express themselves will allow me to reach them at a deeper level.

My Project

I currently have a variety of tables and chairs in my slightly over-crowded classroom and would love to create more room for the students to be able to spread out a bit. Since I am a reading teacher, I would love to be able to provide more creative, comfortable spaces for the students to relax while reading to themselves, each other or listening to me read. I have already purchased a couple of items myself, but could use help to get some more items for the classroom, so I can remove some of the traditional seating and create more space.
