My Project

Integrating flexible seating arrangements into my classroom at Ochoa Middle School will significantly enhance the learning experience for students on the autism spectrum, who have unique sensory input needs. The specific items requested, such as wobble stools, standing desks, and wobble balls, are aimed at creating a comfortable and adaptable learning environment. These seating options allow students the freedom to choose what best suits their sensory requirements, thereby promoting a sense of autonomy and focus during lessons. The goal of this project is to foster an inclusive educational setting where students feel physically and emotionally comfortable, which is crucial for effective learning. By accommodating various sensory needs, flexible seating helps reduce anxiety and overstimulation, common challenges for students on the autism spectrum, enabling them to engage more fully with the curriculum. This approach not only supports the cognitive development of these students but also enhances their social interactions by encouraging communication and collaboration. My stuents are special because they bring unique perspectives and strengths to the classroom. By recognizing and addressing their sensory needs, we can create a learning environment that respects their individuality and promotes their academic and personal growth. The success of this project lies in its ability to transform the classroom into a dynamic space where every student can thrive, thereby reflecting the school’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence in education.
