Flex to Relax

My students need variety of flexible seating options to help them work in a relaxed environment. This includes bouncy balls, lap desks, rug mats, and fidget bands for regular chairs.

My Students

Most of my students come from different backgrounds, and many of them live in high poverty areas. Even with hardships in their personal life, my students always come in to our classroom excited and ready to learn. I strive make our classroom a safe, happy place for my students to come in and be excited.

I teach at a Title I school in Texas where the majority of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

Coming from these backgrounds, a lot of them are struggling with abstract concepts of math. They really enjoy hands-on activities to aid them in connecting abstract math concepts with concrete examples.

My Project

My students need a variety of seating options to get them moving and get comfortable when they are working. Our students are working in a very fast-paced environment, so we want them to be as comfortable as they can be when they are working.

Students are given choice in where they want to learn and how they learn.

When they make their own decisions on where they want to learn, they get sense of responsibility in their own learning. By providing a safe and warm environment to my students using bouncy balls, lap desks, rug mats, and fidget bands for regular chairs, they will be able to focus more on their work and worry less about how to sit properly on a chair. Adults don't enjoy sitting on a chair all day long, why should we make our students do that?
