My Project
These floor cushions will be used to create comfortable reading and discussion stations in the classroom. Right now, students that are sitting at their individual desks spaced out around the classroom are less comfortable reading, discussing, and sharing their thoughts.
If they are able to sit on the floor in a circle together, we are more able to harness the power of positive peer pressure to encourage more kids to read.
Additionally, they will be more open to talking to each other because their environment will invite proximity to one another and greater comfort both physically and socially.
The laundry basket that is similarly nature-themed will be used for storage of the cushions. While not in use as storage, these bins can also be used in project-based learning and small group activities in a variety of ways. The fact that they are collapsible and washer-safe makes them versatile in this regard.
