My students are always full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. My students are eager to learn and be the best they can be. Whether it is learning how to read, participating in STEAM projects, or experiencing various types of technology for the first time, my students put forth their best every day.
I teach at a school of close to 1200 students right outside of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Our school serves a range of students from those living in hotel rooms to average middle-class families. The students at my school have a great passion for learning and they strive to grow in their education every day. Gaining valuable resources in the classroom provides my students with everything they need to achieve high expectations.
My Project
Through my recent studies on critical thinking and learning, I have come across many articles on how flexible seating is ideal for optimal student learning. I have requested lap desks and wobble cushions that will be used for flexible seating in the classroom next year, and for many years to come as the materials are very durable!
Flexible seating has been shown to improve students' focus by giving them a choice and a chance to be comfortable while working.
When students are comfortable, they are more willing to focus on their work. By giving them different seating and a choice, students are more willing to use these options while completing their work, writing, or independent reading!
Another benefit of flexible seating is when students can get the antsy-feeling out of their system and not have to sit still in a regular chair, they are able to focus more on their work. Flexible seating options will give my students the chance to get their wiggles out and work all at the same time!!
