My Students

I have a very diverse group of 1st and 2nd graders. Some of my students are struggling and receiving remediation, and some are gifted and love being challenged. Though they all have different learning styles, they all have one thing in common, they love learning and love having free choice within the classroom.

My students are creative, inquisitive, explorers.

My goal is to have a completely flexible classroom setting; kids love being able to pick their seats, and it leads to a more collaborative learning environment.

My Project

Everyone learns differently. As a teacher I need to differentiate to meet the needs of all students by providing them with tools where they will be successful learners. This includes flexible, comfortable seating where they will learn best.

Students need to learn how to take responsibility for their learning and know what works best for them.

Flexible seating will give them the choices they need to take control.

I plan to use wobble stools with students who are very active. I will use floor pillows and floor chairs for students who need a quiet learning space away from their table group.

Using flexible seating will give students independence in the classroom and will allow students to advocate for themselves as learners.
