My students have speech-language impairments. Technology is necessary for our state standards, and comes at a cost our school doesn't have. The students need access to the technology. I have an iPad, however another is needed so that they can utilize in a small group rotation with more hands to access.
My students range from sixth to eighth graders and many are in an inclusive environment.
However, there are students in our functional unit that work on life skills and range from non-verbal to verbal.
My Project
Kiddos that can't sit down are in my therapy room daily! I am trying to make my therapy and classroom into a totally flexible seating area for students. That way I can show other teachers the need to have such resources in their room as well to make their lives easier with those wiggle worms. This will assist both special needs, those being considered for a program to general education students in the major program classes. I currently use some yoga balls and they are a total hit which made me consider other alternatives. This is how I came to discover and research the wobble chairs.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
