Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in our classroom students are engaged and ready to learn. We incorporate literacy in every aspect of our learning even down to our behavior system. My students are divided into four houses: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

My students are energetic and fun loving.

They are excited about learning and will always try even though they might not understand fully. It's even more powerful that our school is high poverty. We are a small school 335 students and 95% of our students are on free or reduce lunch. You would never be able to tell if you walked in our school because of our dedicated students and parents. The teachers and students see as everyone in our community as family.

My Project

In the next two weeks we will be starting our Best Places unit. In our unit we will be learning about different houses and homes around the world and how they are different from us. What better why to introduce Flat Stanley and letting him go visit these exciting places. We will read the Flat Stanley books to focus on reading comprehension and various literacy skills. As a Social Studies project we will make our Flat Stanley's and send him off to different host families around the United States and hopefully to other countries.

Donations to this project will give students an experience to other cultures that their own Flat Stanley will visit.

My students will have a higher interest in learning about the culture to where their Flat Stanley will go. This is making learning about different cultures fun and students will be more invested. Instead of just learning about England from a book, they can experience England through Flat Stanley.
