Remember doing book reports? Remember having to write papers at home and not wrinkle them up before getting to school so your teacher wouldn't make you do it over...NEVER again! We need flash drives so that we can write, create, and invent our projects at home to bring to the classroom to share!
My students are in a rural area with only two elementary schools.
While we have a very high standard for learning, we need technology to push us further in our adventures in creating projects for integrated learning. Our focus is on independence and taking action for learning through projects based on science both in the classroom and in at home explorations. Through flash drives, we would have the opportunity to share our experiences, create in new ways to utilize technology through our e-pad in the classroom, as well as have teacher talk and feedback electronically for writers' workshop. Please consider funding this project to better utilize our time and energy in the classroom.
My Project
If every student in my classroom had a flash drive, we would be portable! From the lab to the classroom, to home.. the possibilities are endless as to what we could do. I fully plan to have interactive writing with my students, create grammar interactive assignments, take PowerPoint presentations from class to home, and utilize the strengths of my students knowledge of technology to expand on these concepts. There are endless ideas we could expand on if given the opportunity through this grand.
Through this grant, my students will realize a home/school connection of learning.
The broad impact is that the children see that learning is a process and they bring their own experiences to the table when we begin a new concept. With flash drives, the students can actually share prior knowledge through media services.
I donations are made to our school for this project, our writing workshop becomes portable and fluid. There isn't just a writing notebook, the students can take it with them.
