Help me give my students exposure to coding experiences with the Sphero Bolt so they can create projects that are representative of their culture.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
P.S. 35X is a Title 1 school that serves students of varied economic background. It is our school mission to celebrate all of the children who walk our halls.
As the technology teacher, it is my goal to expose our students to various forms of technology.
One particular class has made many advances in coding. When this group was in first grade, they were coding so well on Scratch Jr. that they were assigned Scratch projects, a program that is meant for 3rd grade and up. The boys and girls in this class excel in computer science and their passion for coding is contagious! Their enthusiasm has their new classmates following their path.
At PS 35X, we strive to provide culturally responsive curriculum and opportunities to our children. During our planning for STEM, there was a discovery that the computer science activities are limited to mainstream holidays and do not accurately represent the children of our school. Here is where you come in.
Help me by providing opportunities that depict the students’ culture by giving them access to Sphero Bolts. They would be able to program their country’s flag on a BOLT's LED screen and program it to say interesting facts about their country and culture, allowing for authentic self-representation. Students will also be able to create an emoji to express their emotions during social emotional lessons, and so much more!
The use of these robots doesn’t just end with one class. Their experience of programming the Bolts would allow them to assist me in showing the younger students how to code the alphabet and create a vertical culture of compassion. I am sure this would be exciting for all of the students!
We would be extremely grateful to all those who contribute.
