This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I want to give my students so much because they have so little. Most of the students I work with come from homes below the poverty line, and I want them to have the chance to experience something that can influence their lives. Some of these students don't have access to the simplest supplies at home.
I want them to be exposed to as much as possible so that they don't fall behind.
Even though they have so much gone against them, they bounce back each time and come to school ready to learn. They look to our school as a place to escape their rough home lives and that makes me want to provide them with everything I can.
My Project
We don't have a Fitness facility at our school which makes it challenging for students to get bigger, faster, and stronger for Physical Education class and sports seasons. We have been creative with what we have and have been trying to expand our equipment as much as we can. Most of the gym equipment provided by the school is worn out and outdated, which is unfair to the students. In order to get some newer items, we would need donations.
I know our students would be more than grateful to have fitness equipment such as the Marcy fitness workout machine and Ethos weight set!!
The students will enjoy this fitness equipment during the school day and in our after school sports program which helps students stay after school and off the streets. Our sports program is growing and needs more fitness equipment for athletes to get stronger for sports teams like basketball and softball. My students have never experienced different fitness equipment like this before because they never have been exposed to fitness in general. The fitness accessories will help the athletes perform different movement types like squats and bench press. Having this equipment will give the student/athletes the best opportunity to be at their best shape for the sports season.
