My Students

My students are incredible individuals who work extremely hard every day to be independent, contributing members of society. All of the students at our school have autism, multiple disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or learning disabilities, but that does not stop them from achieving their goals. Their ultimate goal is to learn the skills necessary to be independent upon graduation when they are 21 years old, both in their living situation and careers. We, the teachers and paraprofessionals, strive every day to create independent thinkers that are ready to take on the outside world!

My Project

My students are learning about healthy eating habits and exercise in order to start to live a healthy life! Some of my students are very overweight and need encouragement in order to get moving. Fitbits will be a great way for them to stay motivated to reach their step goals each day. Each student will be responsible for their own tracking, in turn will foster independence, responsibility, and accountability of their weight loss and exercise program. Along with the Fitbits, students will be making healthy recipes for breakfast and lunch to encourage them to make and eat these healthy recipes outside of school.
